Making Big Waves Foreveryone:

An LGBTQIA + Cabaret Evening

Tuesday 23rd May, 7.00pm - 10.00pm

(NB Technical issue: there will be people wanting to book to be part of the performance, thus to attend workshops etc, and then there will be people wanting to be the audience attending the performance on 23.05.23)

Are you LGBTQIA+ and interested in learning ways to express yourself creatively through writing, as a poet, historian, fiction writer, playwright or comedy writer? Would you love to boost your confidence in speaking in public? Would you love the opportunity to perform at a LGBTQIA cabaret evening?

Following previous successes, Scarborough based LGBTQIA+ theatre company (Not) Forever Yone - JJ (he/they) and Alex (he/they) - will give YOU an opportunity to perform at an LGBTQIA+ cabaret evening. (Not) Forever Yone will be working with participants through two workshops to inspire, uplift and remind the local community that creativity truly is ForeverYone!

The first workshop on 4th May 2023 6:30-8:30pm will explore: writing from LGBTQIA+ experience - whether personal, fictional or historical; different writing forms; and enjoyable creative exercises to get words flowing onto the page.

The second workshop on 11th May 2023 6:30-8:30pm will explore: performance techniques; confidence boosters and ways to take up space; and mindful exercises to support yourself and others.

Participants will then have the opportunity to perform their work at an LGBTQIA+ cabaret evening at the Old Parcels Office on 23rd May 2023 at 7pm alongside an excerpt from (Not) Forever Yone's play in development - How to be a Hot Mess – plus other work from JJ and Alex, and four other local professional LGBTQIA+ creatives.

(Not) Forever Yone is an emerging, vibrant, Scarborough-based LGBTQIA+ theatre company co-led by JJ Cruickshank(he/they) and Alex Briggs (he/they).
